IPU’S GRIDSCHOOL takes place March 5-8, 2012 in Charleston, S.C. (simultaneously with IPU’s Demand Forecasting School). Grid School is designed to improve regulatory capacity for grid-related policy development and decision-making at all government levels in support of innovation, efficiency, and environmental goals. IPU’S DEMAND FORECASTING SCHOOL takes place March 5-8, 2012 in Charleston, S.C. (simultaneously with IPU's Grid School). Forecasting plays a critical role in planning and ratemaking for public utlities and has become particularly challenging. This intensive and interactive course is open to the public and private sectors and is designed to build and expand forecasting skills that can be put to pratical use in the context of this difficult and dynamic environment. This program is designed to be responsive to policy mandates and infrastructure investments associated with the Energy Independence and Security Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

54th Annual Regulatory Studies Program: "Camp NARUC"

This essential two-week program, known as "Camp NARUC" and NARUC endorsed, is designed specifically and exclusively to meet the needs of public-sector regulatory professionals, particularly members of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. With more than 1,000 years of collective experience, the Institute's diverse program faculty is drawn from various academic, governmental, and other organizations. Presentations cover all aspects of the regulatory process, as applied generally and particularly to electricity, natural gas, water, and telecommunications sectors. Methods of instruction provide opportunities for exploration and interaction, and concurrent and bonus sessions allow participants to tailor the program to their particular needs and areas of interest and responsibility. Attendees receive a certificate of completion from Michigan State University and the program is consistently eligible for CLE and CPE credits in most jurisdictions.


17th Annual Advanced Regulatory Studies Program: Ratemaking, Accounting, and Economics

The IPU Advanced Regulatory Studies Program is a series of specialized half-day and all-day workshops designed to provide public- and private-sector regulatory professionals a unique opportunity to interact and exchange ideas on advanced technical, methodological, and policy issues. Each workshop provides a unique and intensive immersion experience, emphasizing both discipline-based and sector-specific learning opportunities, interactive instruction and peer-to-peer dialog, advanced analytical methodologies, and theoretical rigor coupled with practical hands-on problems and exercises. The program faculty includes nationally known experts that draw from both academic and applied perspectives. A synthesizing theme underlying the program is the complex integration of markets and regulation. The Advanced Program reflects our commitment to provide an objective, reasoned, and empirical approach to structural and regulatory change. The program offers flexible tracks focusing on regulation and ratemaking, accounting and finance, engineering and economics, and water. Half-day sessions allow participants to fully customize the program to their interests. IPU also will offer two unique orientation workshops titled, Fundamentals of Regulation, and Fundamentals of the Power Grid taught on the Sunday preceding the Advanced Program for an additional fee.
